Sponsor your Spouse, Partner, or Dependent Children
Eligible candidates can sponsor their spouse, partner or dependent children to become permanent residents of Canada. Both sponsor and applicants need to meet certain requirements in order to be acceptable under this stream. Some of the requirements are as below:
- Sponsor and spouse must be at least 18 years old
- Children are considered dependents as long as they are less that 22 years old and they don’t have a spouse or common law partner
- Sponsor is a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
- If you’re a Canadian citizen living outside Canada, you must show that you plan to live in Canada when the persons you want to sponsor become permanent residents.
- You can’t sponsor someone if you’re a permanent resident living outside Canada.
- Sponsor needed to prove that you’re not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability
- Sponsor need to undertake that they can provide for the basic needs of any persons they want to sponsor
- All persons in the application needed to pass medical exams and admissibility checks
